Maressa Nicole Malabanan

Maressa Malabanan was born in Bremerton, Washington on September 27, 1992 to Joseph and Irma Malabanan.  She is the eldest of the “Tres Marias” with sisters Alyssa and Isabella. She has grown up in San Diego and lives in Rancho Penasquitos.

Ever since middle school, she has been involved with the church, military, Fil-Am, and San Diego community.  Within the church community, Maressa has helped the Knights of Columbus with their Tootsie Roll drives for the mentally challenged and other fund raisers, has been a part of the Good Shepherd's annual musical production for 8 years and assists with the children's liturgy.  In the military community, she has reached out by assisting with the carnivals, Toys for Tots drive, San Diego Charger events and other celebrity visits, the world famous Miramar Air Show, as well as other military appreciation events.  Learning the importance of giving back at a young age, she is very proud to know that she has the privilege of serving those who serve.

Maressa previously attended Westview High School where she was a very involved student.  She held positions as Secretary and Vice President in Student Government, served as a Link Crew Leader who welcomed freshmen, participated in their NJROTC program and served as a student representative and community service officer for the Filipino Club “Bayanihan.”  Being the second generation in the United States and so curious about her roots, she not only got involved in the Filipino club at school where she got the youth involved with the community, but she also served a big part in establishing the Filipino language and history class that is still active today.

Apart from school, work and volunteering, Maressa enjoys anything that involves strengthening her faith, spending time with her family and friends, performing or singing, and staying active by working out and/or making time for her long time hobby of dancing hip-hop.
Currently Maressa is volunteering at the VA hospital to gain exposure to the Medical field.  She is a student at Miramar and Mesa Community college where she is finishing her general education. Pursuing her passion in working with and for people, she hopes to transfer to UCLA or CSULB to attain her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
